Railroad Station and Parking Garage Columbus, Ohio, USA

Railroad Station and Parking Garage Columbus, Ohio, USA

This competition entry utilizes the existing commuter line rail station to create an enclosed civic space in the sprawling suburbs of Columbus. Its perimeter becomes a zone for intensified real estate development. The train platforms are based on the length of a typical train and define the dimension of a regional civic courtyard. In this proposal the train station regains its status as a civic meeting place and creates a sense of place within the endless continuum of the suburbs.
