Police Station Lubbeek
This project is a new police headquarters for Bierbeek, Boutersem, Holsbeek, and Lubbeek, a group of rural municipalities east of Leuven and Brussels. The structure organizes a compact floorplan under an expressive structural portico system. Outside the building, these porticos become visible as an undulating gallery of columns, offering shade as well as a clear public presence defining the surrounding public spaces.
The masterplan developed by ORG transforms the current site that unites an amalgam of public functions around a large carpark. The location of the police building creates a new representative public space - half park, half-square - in which all other public functions - a library, town hall, sports hall, the multipurpose hall will have a clear public address. The new police building forms the northern flank of this new public space.
